Forks in a React Native Rewrite

We had a 7 yrs old native mobile app, and decided to rewrite it in React Native + Expo. Smaller team, 8 months, a lot of decisions along the way. Some worked out, others cost us weeks of debugging. It will be all about the forks that mattered — and a few we didn't expect to face.
18 years in software, including some early php, several years of Angular triggered sleep loss, and a late jump onto the React train with Next.js and React Native. Has been leading frontend and mobile teams of various sizes for more than 10 years. Lately making architecture, team process, and dev/AI experience dives.
